We want your experience to be the best it can be whilst studying at UAL, so we’re excited to announce that we’re working with IQ to refresh and improve all of the bedrooms and some of the communal spaces at The Costume Store during the 2025/26 academic year.
These works are part of the general up-keep of the hall and the renovation work will start in November 2025 and run through to May 2026.
We are currently working with IQ to finalise the details for the renovation to ensure the whole process is as smooth as possible for you. In the meantime, please find below some useful information about what is planned and how it will affect you.

Information for students moving into The Costume Store for the academic year 2025/26
Your room renovation will take place over 12 hours between 8am to 8pm, on a day between November 2025 and May 2026.
In mid-October we will host an in-person Q&A session in the common room at The Costume Store where we will let you know when your room improvement will be taking place.
Our aim is to complete your room renovation within one working day and to minimise disruption to all our residents whilst the room renovations are taking place.
To ensure you have somewhere to study and to cook whilst your room renovation is taking place, there will be a temporary study room and kitchen available. We will also give you a meal voucher in case you would prefer to buy food on the day when your room is being renovated.
• A new desk light, desk chair, pin board and blinds
• A new desk in en suite rooms
• A freshly painted room and new flooring
• LED lighting throughout
• A full refresh of cluster kitchens
*These upgrades could be subject to change.
We will continue to keep this webpage up-to-date, and we will be in touch again later in September after you move into the hall to provide more details on the planned renovation works.
In mid-October we will host an in-person Q&A session in the common room at The Costume Store to answer any of your questions and show you what the new rooms will look like.
